UPDATE #1 -- I posted a thread on the Minecraft forum, and I asked for a professional voluntary server creator. He'll be the only one that isn't part of GI on the server, hopefully it won't be a problem. ^.^
UPDATE #2 -- Alright, I've watched quite a few tutorials on starting a server, and I'm going to attempt to create it tomorrow afternoon. Continue adding your names, and I'll edit the post tomorrow afternoon. G'night. ^.^
UPDATE #3 (01/15) -- I requested a server, and I server I received! I'm awaiting the IP from the fellow who's creating it, so right when I get it, I'll PM all the confirmed users. The server will only hold 15 players, and I have 4 confirmed users, so hurry up! I am going to put Giga-Gamil as the first moderator, just because I need at least one person in that area. I need one other mod, so tell meh what times you're on!! ^.^
UPDATE #4 (01/16) -- Well. The past few days, I've been trying to get a server. I asked on the Minecraft forums for a server, and no response. I got really close yesterday to someone starting the server, he emailed me and everything. It's been almost 2 days, and no response. I'm going to give him 1 more day, and if he doesn't come through, I might have to put a hold on this event. I'll continue trying to get a server, but I won't put an IP to any other server whilst I search.
UPDATE #5 -- OMG it's up! The dude just messaged me the IP! SO, the Minecraft GI-dedicated server is up-and-running! ^.^ ^.^ ^.^ ^.^
UPDATE #6 -- Well, the whole time I thought (and he told me) he was making a Minecraft server, he was just making a Teamspeak server. SO, we still need the server. I have a great world for use, but I can't make a server. The reason for this, I can't have my computer running 24/7 (it would NEED to be 24/7). So, whoever makes the server will get a gift. I'm still thinking about what this gift will be, but it'll be good. *puppy eyes* Please make us a server?
UPDATE #7 -- Minecraft.net is down. Bleh. I can't do nuffin'. Still searching for a server, though. Not going well. :[
HUGE Update #8 -- The indefinite hold I put this event on didn't last very long! Someone (from the GI community, no less!) said they made a test server, and he's willing to have it be the GI-Exclusive server we've all been waiting for! Again, it's just a test server, so it won't be available to the GIO community for awhile, especially since at the moment it's using Hamachi (complicated server software) to log on. I'm going to try and talk him out of using this, just so it'll be easier for people to log on, and to avoid complaints from people not willing to download third-party software to their computer.
I'm pretty psyched for this, and I really hope it works out. I'll let the members know individually when the server is ready for peoplez to get on. =D
BlockMania is going to ditch the Hamachi setup for the more traditional port-forwarding scheme pretty soon! I'm glad it's happening, Hamachi isn't even connecting for me. Hopefully it'll be easier to log on, and the IP will have to be PM'd to the participants. Stay tuned for updates! OR, follow me on Twitter for instant updates! ;D
